Katelyn Lawley - Instructor & Choreographer

Katelyn‘s dance career started after watching and copying her brothers karate kicks and telling everyone she was going to be a dancer one day. She started class at age 3 in Oklahoma before moving to Colorado. Her love for dance took off as she spent the next 15 years dancing at Dance Dimensions. Katelyn started to take dance seriously as she joined her studio’s competition team, Starbound, in 6th grade continuing that journey until she graduated. She won numerous awards from local and national competitions, and received several scholarships at traveling conventions. Katelyn was also on her high school’s dance/pom team, where they placed among the top ten at state competition for CHSAA. During her time at the University of Northern Colorado, she continued her dance career performing in all the professional dance shows and student shows the university put on. Her final year she became the first non musical theater student to be President of the Dance Alliance bringing in local choreographers to host free classes for dancers.

In 2014 Katelyn applied to Northern Colorado Dance Fusion and quickly fell in love with the studio. She started here as a part of the front desk staff, working her way up to subbing and now teaching classes of her own and even private lessons!

Katelyn is currently trained in styles such as; Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Breaking, Modern, Contemporary, Ballroom, Tumbling, Poms, Cheer/Stunt, and 6 ballet styles - RAD (Royal Academy of Dance), Cecchetti, Contemporary Ballet, Pre-Pointe, Pointe and Classical English Ballet.

Katelyn graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with her B.A in Art and Design AND Art Education K-12 WITH a minor in Dance Education back in 2018. She received her Master’s Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Curriculum Design and Development in 2024. With all three of these degrees, Katelyn has been a public school teacher since 2019, currently teaching Visual Arts in the St. Vrain Valley School District. She has become a part of the district Leadership Team and has not only helped train incoming visual arts teachers within the district, but also has developed curriculums that have been used State Wide for many different visual art teachers and dance educators!

Along with all this, Katelyn loves spending time with her little family. She has been married to her high school sweetheart since 2019 during which they have 2 furry labs and their little son which keep both of them active. She enjoys hiking, working on building cars, racing, hunting, and of course exploring all that Colorado continues to offer!

Katelyn’s goal in classes is to always build confidence in not only dance skills but also in who you are!

She instructs her students with not only the terminology in dance, but also in finding the fun in each class and all that they do each week! Her philosophy is to push students to build a passion for dance as it sets them for a lifelong passion for learning in all that they do.
